    Iran says 95 percent of its population enjoys natural gas

    (MENAFN)More than 95 percent of the country’s population is supplied with natural gas via the country’s huge national network, stated Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, in a report addressed to President Hassan Rouhani.

    Zanganeh declared that the gas production from the giant South Pars gas field which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf reached 2.5 times since the Iranian calendar year of 1392 (when the 11th government titled, according to a report by Shana based on the development of the country’s gas industry in the 11th and 12th governments.

    The reporting of the national gas network in rural areas increased over the stated period to stand at 84 percent, declared the Oil Minister.

    The report further stated that over 34,000 villages across the country are supplied with natural gas via this huge network.
