Iran depend on knowledge-based firms to grow maritime fleet
(MENAFN) Chief director of Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex (ISOICO) has stated that local knowledge-based firms have high prospect for the improvement of the nation’s maritime fleet that must not be ignored, the portal of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) mentioned in report issued on Sunday.
Highlighting the importance of improving the nation’s maritime transport fleet and its optimistic effect on the economy, Salman Zarbi stated that “Maritime industry is considered one of the most effective industries in the world and more than 90 percent of the world's transportation and trade takes place through maritime transportation.”
“Many countries have put great importance upon the advantages of their sea transportation, while this economic capacity has been neglected in our country despite having 5,800 kilometers of coastline in both north and south of the country,” he added.
As stated by Zarbi, knowledge-based firms can cut the gap among Iran’s maritime transportation industry and those of developed nations in order to establish promising situations so that the nation can get a good use from the lead of this sector in financial improvement.
