Qatar plans to send liquefied natural gas to Germany

(MENAFN) Qatar Energy and ConocoPhillips inked a deal for the sale of Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany, as reported by the state news agency QNA on Tuesday.

Under the 15-year deal reached between Qatar Energy and ConocoPhillips, more than 2 million tons of LNG will be sent to Germany, with the first delivery arranged for 2026.

"Qatar separates trade from politics. Today, an agreement was reached with a US company to sell liquefied gas to Germany," Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the minister of state for energy affairs in Qatar, was cited as stating.

Germany is trying to replace lost Russian gas deliveries with other resources and LNG, for which many stations are being built on the North and Baltic Seas.

Qatar, a main LNG provider with the third-largest gas reserves in the world after Russia and Iran, has recently inked a long-term gas contract with China.
