Sudan to sign USD4bn deal with Qatar for Red Sea project

(MENAFN) Sudan is set to secure a deal with Qatar at a worth of USD4 billion to cooperate in establishing the Red Sea port of Suakin off Sudan's coast.

Local media have reported the news citing Sudanese Transport Minister Makawi Mohamed Awad who made the declaration while Qatari officials to Suakin were visiting.

Even though the agreement is being set up, the value and further particulars are yet to be completed, Reuters was informed by visiting officials from Qatar's transport ministry.

However, Egypt is expected to oppose the agreement as it raises allegations against Qatar of granting support to the Muslim Brotherhood movement.
