    Turkey sees surge in foreign arrivals Jan-Aug

    (MENAFN) Turkey was unveiled to have welcomed an overall of 27 million foreign tourists compared to 21.9 million during the first eight months of 2018.

    Foreign arrivals to Turkey witnessed a boost of 22.9 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism revealed.

    The majority of the visitors to Turkey have come from Russia, with 4.18 million people accounting for 15.5 percent of the total foreign tourists.

    The country also welcomed 2.97 million tourists from Germany, 1.57 million visitors from the UK, 1.51 million arrivals from Iran, and 1.44 million from Georgia.

    Turkey Hoteliers Federation chairman Osman Ayik stated "September is one of the most productive months and tourists from Europe and other countries continue to come to Turkey."

    Ayik added "we are going to see over 40 million foreign visitors at the end of this year," noting that "the positive climate will continue in 2019."
