    Emirates ditches Airbus A380 in new USD21.4b deal

    (MENAFN) Dubai-based Emirates signed an agreement valued at USD21.4 billion for the purchase of 70 Airbus aircraft, with forty being A330-900 aircraft and thirty A350-900.

    UAE's carrier further announced a plan to lessen of its A380 order to hit 14 from the previous 53, with the delivery set between this year and 2021.

    The airline decided to stop using the superjumbo and instead operate Airbus A330neo and A350 aircraft, which will be delivered between 2021 and 2024.

    Through the deal, the airline is now enabled to run smaller airports using the A330neo, which is a jet similar to Boeing 787.
