2019 Lebanese state budget passed by gov't

(MENAFN) This year's Lebanese state budget was passed by the government and now awaits the approval and negotiation of the parliament.

The government has the potential to cut the budget deficit to hit 7.59 percent of the GDP compared to 11.4 percent, affirmed Lebanese Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil.

Minister Khalil stated: "however, we should be committed to the budgets allocated to each ministry for us to succeed in reaching this figure."

Khalil further dismissed reports that claimed that basic wages for public sector workers are planned to be slashed.

He added: "all of these were rumors. We did not cut any salaries. However, we looked into the incentives, allowances and compensations of public sector employees."
