Syria to boost clean gas output: Minister

(MENAFN) Syrian Minister of Oil Sufiyan al-Allaw said that his country is planning to produce approximately 160 billion cubic meters of clean gas by the end of 2025, Reuters reported. Allaw made this announcement in a statement issued by the oil ministry during his review along with the executives of Hayan Petroleum Company (HPC), a Syria - Croatian joint venture, the phases of implementing an HPC gas plant near Tadmur and the schedule of finalizing it at the appointed time in order to process about 4 millions cm of gas per day. The supervisors of the project expected that the HPC gas plant is to be finalized before the contract period due in the first quarter of 2011 and the operation processes are to start next December with the plant producing about 3.7 million cm of clean gas, 5 thousand barrels of distillates and 180 tons of household gas. The Syrian minister pointed out that these projects are part of the ministry's plans for investing in the national gas resources, noting that Syria owns big reserves of gas estimated at some 284 billion cm on stream and they are liable to surge with the new finds, the statement said.
