    Ford reports strong growth in GCC sales

    (MENAFN) Ford Motor Company reported a 43 percent growth in GCC sales during the first quarter of 2010 over the same period last year, while the industry is estimated to have grown by about five percent, Khaleej Times reported. Ford's GCC growth was mainly driven by demand across the range of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products, with nearly 30 percent increase in passenger cars, led by the all-new Fiesta, Fusion and Taurus. In the UAE, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales saw a 25 percent hike over Q1 last year, with growth registered across passenger cars and utility vehicles alike. Other growth markets from the region included Saudi Arabia and Qatar which registered a 75 percent increase over the first quarter last year. In Kuwait, trucks and SUVs recorded a 40 percent hike thanks to all-time favorites Explorer, Expedition, Mountaineer and Navigator, while the all-new Fusion and Taurus models proved to be among the favorites in the passenger car lineup.
