Iran's exports to Iraq to exceed $8b this year

(MENAFN) Iran's exports to Iraq are expected to top $8 billion this year, up from $6 billion in 2009, boosted by equipment and materials for the war-wrecked country's reconstruction, Reuters reported. Iran, which is Iraq's main trading partner, has been one of the largest investors in Iraq since a US-led invasion in 2003. The Trade Attache at the Iranian embassy in Iraq, Ali Heidari, said that bilateral economic ties have grown since 2003, with the volume of trade is 10 times more than it was in 2003. Trade relations between the two countries have grown despite the fact Iran is under US and UN sanctions because of its disputed nuclear program.
