    Abu Dhabi Gas Development signs contracts to develop Shah field

    (MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company inked two deals to develop the largest gas project in Abu Dhabi, Shah gas field, Emirates Busines 24/7reported. The company, which is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), signed a $300 million contract with Al Jaber for preparatory services. The value of the main automation contractor project, signed with US-based Honeywell, and covering the operation, control, monitoring and full protection of the gas field, was not revealed. Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company CEO Saif Al Ghafli said that Al Jaber and Honeywell's reputation of executing the largest advanced projects was a basic factor behind the company's selection of them. Al Jaber's Director of Operations, Fatima Al Jaber, said the preliminary works cover a 27km-long asphalt road, levelling of soil of some 27 million cubic metres and the supply of well digging sites. The works will take 16 months to execute. She also said a $500m contract to develop a gas project in Qatar was awarded to Al Jaber and the project will be completed in three-and-a-half years. First Vice-President of Projects at Abu Dhabi Gas Development Abdullah Hamad Al Muhairi said that the $10bn Shah gas project will be ready in 2014. When it reaches full production capacity, the Shah field is expected to process some one billion cubic feet of gas per day, contributing significantly to the emirate's domestic gas supply.
