    Dubai opens Al Maktoum International Airport

    (MENAFN) Dubai has joined the group of two-airport cities when first commercial cargo flight landed on Dubai World Central?s Al Maktoum International Airport, the world?s largest airport, Khaleej Times reported Three air freight companies, namely Rus Aviation, Skyline and Aerospace Consortium, have begun operations from the new airport with 12 others due to follow in days to come. Earlier this month, test landing was done by Emirates? Boeing 777 freighter at Al Maktoum International, the centrepiece of the $33 billion Dubai World Central (DWC) project. The airport will open its runway for passenger traffic next year in March. Al Maktoum International, Dubai?s second international air hub, is designed to be the world?s largest airport when it is fully completed. It will have five runways, four terminal buildings and capacity for 160 million passengers and 12 million tons of cargo.
