    Qatar awards $750m contract to Besix

    (MENAFN) Besix Group, joint venture between of Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) and Belgian construction group Besix has won a contract worth $750 million to expand Qatar's international airport, Reuters reported. The 50-50 venture will team up with Midmac Contracting via Besix Group's fully-owned unit Six Construct Qatar to provide all structural, mechanical and electrical works and design coordination for the airport's lounge and retail area. Six Construct Qatar's 50 percent stake in the project is worth around $375 million, OCI said. The Six Construct/Midmac joint venture is also working on a project at the Doha convention Centre and Tower awarded in 2009, it added. The project at the Doha International Airport is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2012.
