    New car sales in Lebanon rise 5.2%

    (MENAFN) A report issued by the Association of Automobile Importers in Lebanon showed that the number of new cars sold in Lebanon in the first seven months of the year rose 5.2 percent, Reuters reported. Sales rose 5.2 percent year-on-year, with Kia being the most popular brand amongst Lebanese buyers and accounting for 3,639, or 18.5 percent, of new sales. Second most popular was Hyundai with 2,346, followed by Nissan (3,247), Toyota (1,627), Mitsubishi (869), Chevrolet (828) and Renault (750). While Japanese cars accounted for 38.2 percent of total sales, they posted an overall annual drop of 16.1 percent year-on-year. European cars also registered a 3.6 percent decline and American cars dropped 5.2 percent, the report added.
