    Jordan eyes $1.3b in foreign aid this year

    (MENAFN) Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan said that foreign to support development projects in the kingdom is expected to reach $1.3 billion by the end of this year, Petra reported. He pointed out that $900 million will likely be in grants (the final amount to be confirmed in October) and $400 million in soft loans, adding that the value of soft loans extended to the Kingdom this year is significantly lower than in 2009, while the value of grants is higher. The minister indicated that foreign aid through the ministry to support the state budget is expected to reach $300-350 million by the end of this year, mainly from the US, the EU and Japan. He remarked that capital expenditures in next year�s budget will focus on the Kingdom�s development priorities as determined by the ministerial committees for different economic sectors and the Council of Ministers.
