    Jordan's inflation accelerates to 4.7%

(MENAFN) Jordan's Department of Statistics (DoS) said in a statement that the kingdom's consumer price index (CPI) increased during the first nine months of this year by 4.7 percent compared to 1.5 percent during the same period of last year, Petra reported. The DoS report showed that the rise in the CPI was the outcome of an increase in the prices of sugar, meat and poultry products as well as rents, fuel, lighting and transport charges during the first three quarters of this year. The cost of other commodities, including telecommunication services, dairy products, fat and oil as well as charges for cultural and recreational activities went down, the report said. Meanwhile, the producer's price index of major agricultural products also rose by 6.6 percent to reach 105 points at the end of August this year from 98.5 points at the end of the same month of last year.
