Moroccan consumer prices decline 0.3% in September

(MENAFN) Moroccan consumer prices fell year on year in September, pushed down by a decline in food prices, according to official data, Reuters reported. The overall consumer price index was down 0.3 percent last month from a year ago as food prices fell 1.4 percent and non-food prices increased 0.7 percent, the state High Planning Commission said. The annual consumer price index had risen 0.6 percent in August and 1.9 percent and 1.1 percent respectively in July and June, driven mainly by food price rises. Food prices account for more than 40 percent of the consumer prices gauge. On a monthly basis, the price index was up 1.4 percent in September from the previous month on a 2.6 percent rise of food prices, the Commission said.
