Egypt re-launches tender for wastewater plant

(MENAFN) The Egyptian government announced that it has re-opened a bid for a wastewater treatment plant as part of its public-private partnership program, Reuters reported. The announcement for pre-qualifiers for a 20-year contract for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant in Abu Rawash, south of Cairo, was published in the state-run al-Ahram newspaper. The tender for the Abu Rawash plant, which has capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters per day, had previously been announced in December. Orascom Construction Industries, Egypt's biggest listed builder, won a contract in a 50-50 joint venture with Spain's Aqualia, the water division of Spain's FCC in May 2009, in the country's first public-private partnership concession.
