    Morocco consumer inflation up 1.8% in October

    (MENAFN) Consumer prices in Morocco rose in October as food costs increased, the state High Planning Commission (HCP) said. Consumer prices jumped 1.8 percent in October year-on-year on a 3 percent increase in food prices. Consumer prices declined 0.3 percent annually in September when food costs fell 1.4 percent. Consumer prices were up 0.6 percent in August versus 1.1 percent increases in July and 1.9 percent in June mainly on higher food costs. Food prices, which account for more than 40 percent of the North African country's consumer price index, rose 0.2 percent in August, 1.6 percent in July and 3.2 percent in June. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.8 percent in October on a 1.7 percent food price rises from 1.4 percent increase in September when food costs rose 2.6 percent.
