Ford records 31% surge in GCC sales by September-end

(MENAFN) Larry Prein, Managing Director at Ford Middle East, announced that company sales by September-end increased by nearly a third, whereas sales in Saudi Arabia accelerated nearly 50 percent, Arabian Business reported. According to Prein, sales in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region surged 31 percent during the first three quarters of 2010, year on year. Driven by the introduction of the new Fusion and Taurus brands, passenger models jumped 34 percent, whereas models such as Ford, Lincoln and Mercury SUVs and trucks remained popular, with sales up nearly 27 percent, he said. Saudi Arabia, the Gulf's wealthiest state, proved the strongest market for the US-based auto-maker, with sales up 50 percent in the first nine months. By comparison, UAE sales were up 10 percent, revealed Prein.
