    Dubai, Singapore trade hits $1.25b by September-end

    (MENAFN) Ahmed Butti, Director-General of Dubai Customs and Chief Executive Officer of the Ports, Maritime and Free Zone Authority, said that trade exchange between Dubai and Singapore hit $1.25 billion by September-end, up from $1 billion, year on year, registering a 22 percent surge, Khaleej Times reported. Official figures from Dubai Customs show that the emirate's imports from Singapore grew by 17.5 percent during the mentioned period, to reach $871 million against $735 million over the same period a year ago, Whereas Dubai exports to Singapore amounted to $99.1 million, as opposed to $66.4 million, registering a 49 percent increase, said Butti. As for re-exports from Dubai to Singapore, more than $272.2 million were generated during the first ten months of 2010, against $222.7 million in 2009, showing a 27 percent jump, Butti revealed.
