    7 ME operators sign RCN deal

    (MENAFN) The Chief Operating Officer at Mobily, Abdulaziz Altamami, said that Middle East�s longest Regional Cable Network (RCN) that extends from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul in Turkey and then to Europe will be built by seven operators including Etisalat (UAE), Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Jordan Telecom, Mada and Zain (Jordan), Syria Telecom (Syria) and Superonline, a Turkcell Group company, reported Bloomberg. Altamimi said that the RCN would be fully-redundant terrestrial communications infrastructure along a 7,750 kilometer round trip route. Two billions people would benefit from the RCN as it would become their gateway to the internet. Ali Amiri, Consortium Chairman and Executive Vice President Carrier & Wholesale at Etisalat, said that the RCN would provide exceptional speed, quality and reliability as it would work on a 12.8 terabits per second speed. Over fifteen access points in Bulgarian and Greek borders would be used in this project. Fire on both routes would be dedicated to the RCN by each provider allowing for expected upgrades and re-routing.
