Iraq to resume Kurdish oil exports

(MENAFN) The Iraqi oil minister said that self-ruled Kurdish region oil exports would start again according to Iraq's national oil export policy, reported Gulf Daily News. The minister said that Baghdad considered more than twenty agreements between Kurds and western companies illegal. This comes as Kurds eyed more control over oil in their region. However, the government considered oil a national resource that should be under the control of central government. Exports of Kurdish oil were halted while these disagreements were settled. In December 2010, the previous oil minister said dispute was resolved over how private companies accounted for equipment costs and other expenses for reimbursement.
