Siemens, GDF Suez sign two contracts in Oman

(MENAFN) The Chief Executive Officer of Siemens in Oman, Markus Strohmeier, said that the company signed two new agreements for serving combined cycle power plants with the capacity of 750-megawatt that are currently being constructed in the cities of Barka and Sohar, reported Times of Oman. The CEO said that Siemens was able to secure these two contracts with GDF Suez, lead developer of the consortium that is developing Oman's two new independent power projects (IPP), in addition to the order of building and supplying Barka 3 and Sohar 2. The CEO noted that Siemens is building Barka 3 and Sohar 2 together with GS Engineering & Construction Company. The overall investment is estimated at $1.7 billion. It is worth noting that these projects were awarded by Oman Power and Water Purchasing to a consortium with GDF Suez as lead developer and Multitech (Suhail Bahwan Group), Sojitz Corporation, Shikoku Electric Power and Public Authority For Social Insurance as co-developers.
