Meat prices up 18% in UAE

(MENAFN) Traders at Madinat Zayed market in Dubai said that meat is being sold in local shops with an increase of eighteen percent on prices due to insufficient supply. Traders said that prices of Australian lamb went from $7.3 per kilogram to $8.7 within this month. They added that reasons behind this increase included the hiking cost of animal feed, and natural disasters in major suppliers such as Australia, Brazil and India. It is worth noting that poor harvests in Russia and Pakistan and stockpiling of crops by China and India had added to the problem.
