2 weeks to repair Egypt's pipeline

(MENAFN) The Egyptian oil minister, Sameh Fahmi, announced that repairs of the gas pipeline which had exploded earlier this month in Sinai would take two weeks during which gas exports would be suspended, reported The National. The minister said that the pipeline, which is operated by Eastern Mediterranean Gas (EMG), was damaged by foreign saboteurs who took advantage of the unstable political conditions in Egypt and blew up the gas pipeline. The explosion took place at the point where the pipeline branches to transfer gas to Israel, Jordan and Syria. It is worth noting that the Egyptian army closed the main source of gas supplying the pipeline in an attempt to stop the blaze from expanding. It is worth noting that the incident took place amid massive protests all over Egypt against President Hosni Mubarak.
