    Boeing plans to deliver UAE's jet order

    (MENAFN) A senior executive at US-based Boeing said that the four C-17 jets purchased by the UAE Armed Forces from Boeing in 2009 would be delivered between now and the end of 2012, reported Gulf News. The senior executive said that Boeing plans on delivering 2 of the planes in 2011 and the other 2 in 2012. The UAE Armed Forces said in the International Defense Exhibition and Conference Idex 2009 that it purchased four C-17 aircraft from Boeing and 12 C-130J aircraft from Lockheed Martin in deals estimated to be worth USD3 billion. The reasons behind the purchase were to contribute in rescue and humanitarian missions worldwide and to fulfill the strategic and tactical air transport requirements of the UAE Armed Forces.
