    Abu Dhabi to tax companies for waste

    (MENAFN) Abu Dhabi government announced imposing a new tax on waste disposal services starting this month, in an attempt of cutting waste dumping as well as ease the state's financial status, reported Emirates 24/7. Hamad Al-amiri, director of the Waste Disposal Centre at the Municipality said that under the new tax law, every company has to pay Dh225 for each ton of waste it generates. The new legislation includes both public and private entities. Al-amiri said that the government of Abu Dhabi pays DH500 for every ton of waste, totaling to Dh1.5 billion a year. Al-amiri said that all needed approvals were gained from the emirate's cabinet, Abu Dhabi executive council.
