Australia, UAE to negotiate uranium deal

(MENAFN) The Australian foreign minister, Kevin Rudd, said that the country is planning approaching the UAE for collaboration on uranium trade to supply the Emirates with fuel needed for its nuclear program, reported The National. Rudd said that his country was supportive of the UAE's nuclear plans as they aim at power generation that provides a responsible example to other countries in the Middle East. The minister also said that the negotiations between the two countries would concentrate on nuclear safeguards and details of the proposed use of nuclear fuel in the UAE's program. It is worth noting that the UAE is targeting a nuclear program that would generate power sufficient for the country's domestic usage, as well as lessen the country's carbon emission.
