    UAE Central Bank prohibits telemarketing

(MENAFN) UAE Central Bank's senior manager of banking supervision and examination department, Saleh al Tenaiji, stated that the bank banned finance companies and banks from using phones to offer their services to customers, reported The National. Al Tenaiji also said that using phones to call customers directly caused disturbances and harassment and gave a bad idea about the status of banks in the UAE. The Central Bank acted in response to a large number of complaints it had received from people complaining about the issue. The manager added that companies and banks were not only disturbing customers by constant calls, but also were giving inaccurate details about their offers. He advised firms to meet with their customers in person and provide them with accurate information. It is worth noting that the Central Bank said it would use its tools and would fine banks and companies who would violate the ban.
