    Saudi to generate to power generated from oil

    (MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's junior electricity minister, Saleh Alawaji, said that the country plans a boost its output from power generated by oil in 2011, reported Reuters. Alawaji said that the ministry plans increasing oil production for power generation to 540,000 bpd, up from 403,000 bpd in 2010. He also said that power generation capacity in Saudi Arabia would increase by around six to ten percent in 2010. In the other hand, installed power generation capacity, which now stands at 50 GW, would grow to 77 GW by 2020. It is worth noting that maximum demand on power in the summer of 2010 was reported at 45,000 megawatts (MW), up from 41,000 MW a year earlier.
