Saudi consumers complain of high food prices

(MENAFN) Saudi consumers complained that authorities did not take any action against the rising food prices, especially restaurant and fast-food meals, reported Arab News. Customers also said that the recent two-month pay bonus and minimum wage for government employees was what drove vendors to raise their prices and exploit the salary raise. Saudi customers explained that unless the Ministry of Commerce and Industry would monitor prices and take immediate action to control them, shop keepers would keep on burdening consumers with hiking prices. It is worth noting that some Saudi restaurants justify their increase in prices by offering the same meals with different names saying that the new meals are made of ingredients more expensive and of higher quality than the old ones.
