Tunisia needs USD25b to offset budget deficit

(MENAFN) Tunisia's Primr Minister, Beji Caid Sebsi, said that over the coming five years, his country would need USD25 billion to compensate for the budget deficit, reported Arab News. Sebsi added that the Tunisian government would depend on international donors to collect the amount, adding that the country introduced its case ahead of the Group of Eight countries' meeting which would be held in France. He also said that the country would need to recover the aftermath of the revolution, since the recent political upheaval followed by riots affected the economy and drove away foreign investments, It is worth noting that the revolts spreading across the Arab world started in Tunisia, where President Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali was toppled in January after 23 years of autocratic rule.
