Dassault seeks to close USD11.5b deal with UAE

(MENAFN) Dassault Aviation's chairman and chief executive, Charles Edelstenne, said that the company would seek to close a USD11.5 billion proposed order by which it would provide the UAE with 60 Rafale fighter jets, reported The National. Edelstenne added that the UAE's Air Force and Air Defense started operating Dessault aircraft since 1974, adding that three years ago, the UAE and the French company started talks over the Rafale multi role jet which was designed to be one stop solution for military fighters. He also said that the UAE asked his firm to add more powerful engines, longer-range radar systems and upgraded electronic warfare suites than the version of the Rafale in service with the French Air Force and Navy in order to cope with the hot and humid flying conditions of the Gulf. It is worth noting that the Rafale project has not yet been sold to any foreign government although it is also being considered by Brazil, Switzerland and India.
