Qatar bans importing cucumbers in fear of E.coli

(MENAFN) Qatar's Supreme Council of Health (SCH) announced a temporary ban on importing some types of vegetables from Spain and Germany, based on a recommendation from the Joint Human Food Control Committee, reported Arabian Business. The SCH stated that imports of cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce would be stopped on a temporarily basis in fears of the E.coli bacteria that lately affected Europeans, leading to the death of tens of citizens. Qatar is the second GCC country to apply such a ban, as the UAE announced suspending imports on cucumbers from Europe. It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait should soon make a decision regarding the same matter.
