    Oman, Japan 2010 trade up 34.42%

    (MENAFN) Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) said that last year, the two way trade between Japan and Oman accelerated 34.42 percent to reach USD7.62 billion compared with USD5.76 billion in 2009, reported Oman Daily Observer. Jetro added that as the price and quantity of crude oil imports rose, Oman's crude oil exports to Japan went up 44.88 percent in value reaching USD3,408.3 million, adding that in 2010, crude oil exports increase 16.19 percent reaching 43.13 million barrels in volume terms compared with 37.1 million barrels in 2009. It also said that hydrocarbon exports to Japan grew well in 2010, whereas seafood sales went down 17.2 percent from USD10.3 million in 2009 to USD8.5 million. On the other hand, vegetable imports went up, for exports increased by 24.7 percent reaching USD5.2 million from USD4.2 million in 2009 in terms of value, while the quantity rose by 23.13 percent reaching 1,265 tones from 1,027 tones a year earlier. It is worth noting that last year, Japan's exports of electrical machinery to Oman went up by 16.34 percent to USD50.9 million from USD43.7 million in 2009.
