    Qatar to increase power production

(MENAFN) Qatari Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, stated that the country's total power capacity increased to 9000 mega watts (MW) while potable water increased to 325 MIGD, reported QNA. Al Sada also said that the increase was due to the launching of RAs Girtas Power Company (RGPC). He pointed out that the increase resulted in a surplus of 2500 MW. The Minister added that the consumption of the region's countries doubled during the past years, and that the capacity of the inter-GCC original power grid had been designed to meet emergency needs. It is worth noting that RGPC is a joint venture located in Qatar with eight F3 gas turbines (235 MW each), ten MED (6.5 MIGD each) units and four steam turbines (260 MW each).
