Evidence of bribery convincing, FIFA report says

(MENAFN) FIFA's ethics committee's preliminary report said that the evidence that Mohamed din Hammam of Qatar and Jack Warner of Trinidad attempted bribery during the FIFA presidential election campaign was convincing, Arabian business reported. The report, which was anonymously leaked to Reuters Wednesday, said that the evidence was strong that Bin Hammam was guilty of giving each member association USD40,000 during a May Caribbean Football Union meeting, arranged by Warner for that purpose. The report called for their suspension from duty. On Monday, Warner resigned from his posts of FIFA VP and CONCACAF president. FIFA dropped the investigations against him. In the face of the allegations, Bin Hammam withdrew his presidential bid despite proclaiming his innocence. Sepp Blatter won as the sole candidate.
