DIFC court orders Damac to pay Irish couple USD463K

(MENAFN) The Dubai International Financial Centre's (DIFC) court, ordered Damac Properties to pay an Irish couple a USD463,000 on an apartment that was delayed for around three years, according to Kaashif Basit, the couple's lawyer, reported Arabian Business. Basit added that the court rejected a Damac Park Properties' appeal to overturn an April judgment in favor of Noel and Lorna Gaffney, the Irish couple, moreover, the court also ordered the company to pay around USD54,447 of legal costs to the Gaffney's within two weeks of the judgment. He also said that in December 2004, the Gaffney's bought their apartment on the understanding that the unit would be delivered in early 2008, they paid around 90 percent of the USD517,246 purchase price, but delivery of the unit was postponed. It is worth noting that the DIFC is governed by a different set of regulations to the rest of Dubai.
