Australia's UAE's tourists up on more flights

(MENAFN) Australia's tourism board said that since Etihad Airways and Emirates Airline increased their flights to Australia, in the past ten years, the number of tourists heading from the UAE to Australia went up 185 percent, reported The National. The board added that the number of arrivals from the UAE to Australia grew to 75,600 in 2010 from 26,500 in 2000, including both nationals and expatriate residents, moreover, the average a UAE tourist spent in Australia was USD6,933 compared with a global average of USD5,221. It also said that mutual agreements between the UAE and Australia four years ago enabled the raise in capacity over the past few years, at a time when some airlines were trimming services. It is worth noting that UAE locals prefer to go to the eastern part of Australia with Gold Coast being the main destination followed by Sydney and Melbourne.
