    Abu Dhabi H1 consumer prices up 2.5%

    (MENAFN) Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi said that in 2011's first half, consumer prices in the emirate went up 2.5 percent due to a surge in fish price, reported The National. The agency added that in June, fish and seafood prices grew around 18 percent, whereas compared with the first half of 2010, food prices rose 8 percent in 2011 with the highest increases occurring with: meat and seafood products 13.5 percent; coffee, tea and cocoa 12.8 percent; and fruit 11.1 percent. It also said that the cost of other goods like clothes, started to drop recently, for in the past six months, clothing and footwear prices fell 16 percent compared with the same period in 2010. It is worth noting that in 2010, the cost of transport surged 9.4 percent compared with the same period in 2010, whereas the price of home furnishings and household maintenance increased more than 6 percent.
