Royal Jordanian loses USD55.3m in H1

(MENAFN) Royal Jordanian Airlines CEO, Hussein Dabbas, said that the company suffered from losses totaling to USD55.3 million in the first half of the current fiscal as the political turmoil in the region along with hiking fuel prices took their toll on the company's financials, reported Bloomberg. Dabbas said that due to the turmoil, the carrier had to cancel 677 flights and merge another 80 in the same period. In addition, the company had a total cost of USD188 million dinars in the first half for fuel only, thus accounting for around 44 percent of the carrier's total costs. However, the CEO said that the company has a positive outlook for the second half as the political situation is improving in the region.
