    Dubai to increase fares on public transportation

    (MENAFN) The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, Mattar Al Tayer, said that since the emirate would launch the Green Line next month, the RTA raised the number of mobility zones from five to seven, increasing fares the users of public transport system would pay, reported Gulf News. Al Tayer added that the maximum fare a person should pay would reach USD1.2 for using the Central Business Districts (CBD) in Deira and Bur Dubai which would fall in two zones. He also said that fares for Dubai Metro would range from USD0.68 to USD1.76 for a single journey in case using the Red Nol Card; whereas it would cost between USD0.48 to USD1.5 if a passenger would use a Silver card. It is worth noting that the authority introduced discounted Nol Blue cards for students and elderly passengers and free cards for people with special needs.
