Asia to become hub for air travel

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways' chief executive, James Hogan, said that Asia would become the center of air travel due to the expansion in the aviation industry that's heading east, reported The National. Hogan added that the carrier would focus its attention towards emerging countries and regions like China which constructed 50 new airports in addition to regional India. He also said that flights to the Far East represented around 40 percent of passenger movements from Abu Dhabi International Airport, whereas the Middle East accounted for 26 percent and Europe represented 20 percent. It is worth noting that the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean), suggested a plan to set up a single aviation market with no traffic restrictions by the year 2015 which will represent a free and efficient framework for landing rights and air traffic control.
