    Qatar to spend USD25b on tourism sector in 11 years

    (MENAFN) Qatar Tourism Authority Chairman, Ahmed Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, said that since the country started its preparations to host the 2022 soccer World Cup, by yhen, the goverment would invest between USD20 billion and USD25 billion on the tourism sector, reported Arab News. Al-Nuaimi added that the amount would be invested in infrastructure development mainly in hotels, parks and entertainment sites, moreover, in 2011; the country would add 5,500 hotel rooms so that the total number would reach 30,000 in two years. The chairman said that the government would spend USD11 billion from its budget on the construction of a new international airport, in addition to USD5.5 billion on a deepwater seaport with capacity for two to three cruise ships that could be used to house visiting fans. It is worth noting that Qatar invested in luxurious hotels and facilities, in addition to convention centers and museums in the past six years.
