The other side of Jordan's membership to GCC

(MENAFN) Jordan's membership of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) would improve both of the country's political and economic status, and it would not be one sided mere oil consumption membership. Jordan started GCC's membership talks one month ago, and the council is seriously considering Jordan's membership. Moreover, Jordan would form a shield to protect GCC region from the Shia muslim Iranian influence. Furthermore, Jordan's membership would strengthen GCC's trade relations with the United States and Europe Union. On the other hand, GCC's invitation for Jordan can be seen as an attempt to gather the region's monarchies to stand against the popular upheavals that hit the region recently. It is worth mentioning that the Foreign Affairs Minister of Jordan, Nasser Joudeh, confirmed the country's formal membership request that it would start in September 10. GCC invited both of Jordan and Morocco in May to the group, and it consists of six members which they are; UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.
