Italy's Eni plans to resume Libyan gas exports by year-end

(MENAFN) Eni's chief executive, Paolo Scaroni, said that by October or November, the Italian oil firm would resume its gas exports from Libya to Italy via the Greenstream pipeline, reported Reuters. Scaroni added that imports through the pipeline, which links Libya to Sicily, were halted when the conflict erupted; furthermore, Italy took 12 percent of its gas needs from Libya. He also said that Eni was the biggest foreign oil operator in Libya both in oil and in gas, adding that the firm wanted to bring back its normal operations to the country. It is worth noting that the Greenstream pipeline runs from Mellitah to Sicily, and takes gas from Libya's Wafa field. It has a capacity of around 8 billion cubic meters and is 520-km long.
