Saudi, Kuwait main GCC countries raising salaries in 2011

(MENAFN) Aon Hewitt - Middle East's Regional Chief Executive, Dr. Marx Wisner, said that in 2011, Saudi and Kuwait were on the top list of GCC countries that increased salaries the most, reported KUNA. Wisner added that each country raised salaries by 5.9 percent in the year, whereas Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Yemen recorded the highest increases in salaries in the private sector. He also said that recent political events in the region were the main cause to raise salaries in these countries, as unemployment and poverty were the major reasons behind Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region's revolts. It is worth noting that in terms of salary increase, companies in India and China were the most positive, with an increase of around 12.8 percent in India and 9.6 percent in China.
