Flydubai plans to acquire new aircraft after a year

(MENAFN) Flydubai's chief, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said that after a year, the UAE carrier would purchase a plane, however, the airline didn't decide yet from which firm it would buy the aircraft, reported Emirates 24/7. Al Ghaith added that the carrier's options were either the Boeing's 737Max or the Airbus' A320neo aircraft; however, flydubai didn't make a decision since the new Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo were new to the market. On the other hand, he said that three years ago, the low-cost airline placed a USD4 billion order for 50 Boeing 737 planes at the Farnborough Air Show in England, the last of which would be handed over to the company in 2016. It is worth noting that the A320neo, which is expected to enter service in 2015, will reduce fuel consumption by 15 percent, due to latest generation engines and large sharklet wingtip devices, whereas the Boeing 737 MAX was developed from the Next-Generation 737, and would cut fuel consumption by 16 percent.
