Huawei expects USD3b income from Middle East in 2011

(MENAFN) Huawei chief technical officer for the Middle East Tony Wong said that the company aims at USD3 billion in revenues from the Middle East this year, Arabian Business reported. Wong said that the group achieved USD2.75 billion in revenues in the Middle East region last year. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest Middle Eastern market in which China's biggest telecoms equipment supplier operates Middle East operations, as the kingdom has about 25 million people and a very high GDP, according to Wong. Huawei is operating fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology for Qatar Telecom to around 150,000 customers in Qatar in the Gulf emirate. In August, the Chinese group signed MoU with UAE's Etisalat for network management, cloud computing and applications across Etisalat's 18-country portfolio.
